March 2023, De Aar Solar Power.

A local De Aar-based tyre fitment and repair enterprise, Berreng Tyres, is receiving support from De Aar Solar Power, as part of its Enterprise Development accelerator programme. As a result of this assistance, which will extend over a three-year period, the company has received equipment and infrastructure that is helping it to provide a professional service to their customers, rendering it a more sustainable and viable entity.

Berreng Nkopane, owner of Berreng Tyres, expressed his gratitude for the support by saying, “I am grateful that De Aar Solar Power saw potential in me. Their faith in my vision has given me confidence and has motivated me to keep growing my business. It is also very encouraging to see my business receiving such a positive response from the community.”

De Aar Solar Power’s is intended to create more jobs and generate a greater income within the SMME’s operation. So far, Mr Nkopane has been provided with a container structure to house his business activities, fencing and equipment, with training and mentorship to follow.

“As an industry veteran of over 20 years, Mr Nkopane has a great passion for the work he does. Despite being unsuccessful in obtaining land for over five years, he still found ways of ensuring that his vision was fulfilled. His drive and determination are admirable, hence our decision to support his enterprise,” said Zuki Ndlela, Economic Development Specialist for De Aar Solar Power.

This accelerator programme offers training and support to help create viable small businesses and assist budding entrepreneurs, such as Mr Nkopane, in the Pixley Ka Seme district’s rural towns of Britstown, Hanover, Philipstown and De Aar.

“I hope that other business owners in a similar position can benefit from what De Aar Solar has done for me. It gives me great pleasure to have their backing,” concluded Mr Nkopane.
